  What is Cosmetic Teeth Whitening

Cosmetic teeth whitening is designed to remove plaque and discoloration caused by food, beverage and tobacco products. The surface of the teeth contain millions of microscopic pores and over time organic compounds settle into these pores causing discoloration or yellowing of the tooth enamel.

The active ingredient used to whiten the teeth is hydrogen peroxide. During the teeth whitening process the hydrogen peroxide turns into water and oxygen, which penetrates the porous enamel and bleaches the embedded discolored substances. The structure of the tooth is not changed during the process.

The teeth whitening process will not harm dental work such as fillings, crowns, bridges and bonding. It will remove stains from the dental work however will not alter the original color. Almost all natural teeth respond to the bleaching process. Most of us will realize immediate measurable results however the degree of whiteness will vary from person to person depending the structure of the teeth. Some darker stains, such as those caused by antibiotics are more difficult to whiten. Once the teeth have been whitened your teeth should always remain lighter than they were before whitening. The process generally last for 12 to 18 months however depending on the oral habits of the customer the teeth may slowly discolor again over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Bright Smiles Express work?
We use a patent pending one size fits all double sided mouthpiece, and our light activated special whitening gel.  We use a patent pending spectrum blue LED, with precise settings, that is positioned between the upper and lower teeth.

Hydrogen peroxide and oxygen will break into water molecules and free oxygen radicals. The oxygen radicals combined with carbon-based molecules in the stained teeth proceed to make all stains clear. This process will penetrate the tooth enamel but will not damage the enamel.

How long will this process last?
Two to four years is not unusual, but we do recommend that you now care for your newly bleached teeth with our new era formulated Bright Smile White Pen. Typically, we recommend pursuing another treatment in about six months.

How long does this process take and what are the results?
Results can vary as everyone is different. The grade of your teeth and your age can affect the process, but we recommend a 15 minute treatment.

How often should I use the maintenance product, Bright Smile White Pen?
We would recommend it as a daily maintenance and to use it especially for special events, dates, and/or engagements; anytime you are meeting with the public.

Is bleaching my teeth safe?
Research has shown that if the teeth and gums are normal and healthy there are no adverse effects to bleaching one's teeth. You must make sure the dosage is of legal limits and not excessive and administered in a professional manor. People with tooth decay and with any type of gum disease should avoid this treatment. Never treat a pregnant woman; no know side effects are affirmed but it is simply a precaution.

Who may benefit from the Bright Smiles Express?  Just about everyone can enjoy the benefit to the bleaching process if their teeth and gums are healthy. Remember, teeth can not be bleached whiter then genetically possible. Tetracycline stains can not be removed. Also any stains resulting from excessive fluorides or if the teeth are porous, one can expect little result. Excluding the above, about 95% of our clients experience success.

I have a crown on my anterior or front teeth. Will your product whiten my crown?
No, but the standard procedure is to first whiten all adjacent teeth, wait two weeks for the color to stabilize, then go to your dentist and have him match the crown to the new shade of your teeth. On the contrary, if a crown is already been in place for many years, the whitening process can return the rest of the teeth to the original shade prior to the crown placement. The same goes for composites, bridges, and veneers.

Will the gel and peroxide you offer be the same as from my family dentist?
Absolutely. Our partner in dentistry actually supplies a great deal of product to dentist offices throughout the nation. Our carbamide peroxide, although at legal limits, are in many cases more potent than what your dentist will supply. The key to the success of our whitening system is our patent pending blue light technology which increases the potency of whitening in fraction of the time and cost.

Is this procedure done by a dentist?
This bleaching process is provided by professionals in the teeth whitening business and are not a dentist.
